Welcome to Far Harbor
Far Harbor is a 18+ RPG that features loose stats, perks (and the ability to gain more) and a profile application. Don't worry if your knowledge of Fallout isn't extensive! Our docs cover the most important points and we'll be happy to answer any questions you might have about the world.

On Far Harbor, we like to focus on the oddness of a post-apocalyptic future where technology is as diverse as having synthetic life and guns made of wood pailings. Ghouls, super mutants, humans and synths all have a place in The Island. If you're looking for a place to explore a world blasted by radiation

. . . welcome home
Feburary 2277
Super mutants have been discovered on The Island after a disasterous expedition to find somewhere for the ghouls to establish an indepedent settlement. Meanwhile, Far Harbor was attacked by anglers, injuring many and placing additional strain upon the town's only physician.

I have installed the new "Pipboy" theme! It introduces the ability to display what items your character commonly carries (change this in the UserCP). If you run into issues, be sure to PM Kit the Human.

We've also switched to profile applications! Pending Users can now edit all of their details. You can find out about the process here.

We've relaxed out content rules! We're now rated, anything goes.

HTML has been enabled for the development, wanted ads and plotters forums. Instructions are here. In other news....super mutants have been discovered on the Island. It is the first time they have been spotted. Super mutants are now a playable race!

Beginner's Guide

The Beginner's Guide will guide you through joining Far Harbor, the application process and tips for getting involved in the community with delicious plots.

Before we get into detail, a quick low down on the basic make or breaks:

  • There is no word count. We are happy with one liners.
  • You must be 18 years or over to join Far Harbor.
  • You're considered inactive if you have not made a post in two weeks with any of your characters (so you can be active with one character and the all other's are considered active, even if you haven't made a post with them for a while.)
  • We do not follow the feeling of Fallout 4's crafting feeling where everything is readily available and relatively easy to create. Stimpaks, Radaway, Rad-X and other pre-War drugs would be difficult (though not impossible), to create in this post-apocalyptic setting. In addition, high grade weapons and armour, pre-War tech and so on, would all be rare.

Sounding good? Great! Do still be sure to check out the Rules as a few of them are atypical for forums. You can also find the canon list in the rules, along with our expectations for canons and who is allowed. You can find out about Perks and SPECIAL here.

If all of that is to your liking, you should have a look at the Setting Guide. There are some differences between the game setting and the forum setting. The Timeline is also a handy reference.

You should then read the Factions Guide. This explains how each of the factions typically interact, which ones are playable, and their history.

Once you have an idea of what character you want to play, you can read about the races. Far Harbor typically follows Fallout 4 canon with extra details being pulled from the other games.

You are also encouraged to check out our Wanted Ads for delicious plots.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us in this forum. Alternatively you could join our Discord to get to know us and to shoot around plot ideas.

The first time you register you are required to create an OOC (out of character) account. This OOC account will allow you to post in player areas and acts as your point of contact for other players.

Upon registering, all accounts are placed into the Pending Character usergroup. This usergroup is limited in what they can do, so you should sort yourself into the Player usergroup by going to the User CP and group memberships. Once you have clicked Join Group, make sure you also click Set as Display Group.

Now you will want to register your character account! To do so, log out again and register a new account. Once you have registered you can link the accounts by going to the User CP and then to Linked Accounts. Type in the username and password of the account you want to link to the account you are currently logged into.
